China's Xinjiang hit by 6.1-magnitude earthquake

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in western China, the country's Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) stated on Monday. The epicenter was in a sparsely populated area, 105 km from the nearest city, the CENC said.

Local authorities have not reported any damage or casualties, according to Chinese media. Emergency services have been deployed in the area, including 15 vehicles and 70 rescuers.
