China to offer Turkey $5.9 million in emergency aid
The government in Beijing is prepared to offer 40 million yuan (~$5.9 million) in humanitarian assistance to Turkey to help the country currently struggling with the aftermath of a deadly earthquake, China's national television broadcaster CCTV reported on Tuesday.
Ankara will soon receive the first batch of emergency relief, along with China's rescue and medical teams, according to the report. It stated that the Chinese Red Cross Society will also give Syria and Turkey $200,000 each.
China International Development Cooperation Agency previously claimed Beijing was willing to offer aid to the two earthquake-struck nations, without specifying the exact amount. The massive quake is known to have killed at least 4,300 people so far.
