China urges NATO to stop labeling it as a threat
China's embassy in Norway urged NATO on Saturday to stop labeling the country as a security threat and stirring up regional conflicts, and creating unrest.
"NATO claims to be a regional and defensive organization, but certain members of NATO constantly extend beyond traditional defense regions, frequently establishing close military contacts with countries in the Asia-Pacific, which results in escalating tensions. It is clear to the international community who the real threat to regional and global peace is," the embassy noted.
The remarks come shortly after NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made a visit to the Scandinavian country, accusing China of threatening its neighbors and suppressing non-complying countries.
