China: US accusing Huawei without evidence

China's Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the United States has been accusing China of posing a threat to its national security and calling on countries around the world to ban Huawei from its 5G networks without providing any actual evidence against the company.

"Recently, some US politicians have continually fabricated rumors about Huawei but have never produced the clear evidence that countries have requested," the ministry's spokesperson Lu Kang stated.

China's trade war with the United States intensified over the past few weeks after the two sides failed to reach a trade deal, which led to Washington introducing more tariffs on Chinese imports and blacklisting the country's tech giant Huawei. On Thursday, US President Donald Trump called Huawei "very dangerous" and noted he would like to include the issue regarding the company in a potential trade agreement with China in some way. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed the Chinese firm poses a threat to American national security, alleging they are providing the country's Communist Party with their users' data.
