China’s FM denies hiding COVID-19 info from WHO

The Foreign Ministry of China denied on Wednesday the claims from the Associated Press’ report which states that the Asian country kept the COVID-19 information from the World Health Organization (WHO) for over two weeks.

A spokesman for ministry, Zhao Lijian (pictured), rejected in a daily briefing the notion that Beijing delayed sharing of information with the WHO, describing the accusations as totally untrue.

The AP report published on Tuesday said that the "Chinese officials sat on releasing the genetic map, or genome, of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) for over a week after multiple government labs had fully decoded it, not sharing details key to designing tests, drugs and vaccines."
