Chinese-owned firm producing F-35 parts - report

Exception PCB, a Chinese-owned company in the United Kingdom, is producing circuit boards for Lockheed Martin's F-35 jets, a Sky News report revealed on Friday. The circuit boards control engines, lighting, fuel and navigation systems in the jets.

The British Ministry of Defense said that there is no national security risk because of the Chinese ownership, but former Conservative Defense Minister Sir Gerald Howarth warned of possible Chinese espionage. The concerns come amid the trade war between China and the United States and accusations from Washington that Chinese tech giant Huawei would use its civilian 5G networks for espionage.

Exception PCB was acquired by Shenzhen FastPrint Circuit Technology Co Ltd in 2013, the company's website confirms. Shenzhen FastPrint is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and has manufacturing campuses in China and the UK. It also has subsidiaries in Hong Kong and the United States.
