Chinese Xiamen shifts from Boeing to Airbus planes

China’s passenger airline company XiamenAir stated on Thursday that it is looking to acquire 10 Airbus A321neo airplanes for its fleet instead of Boeing's planes, which currently operate in the company's fleet. China Southern Airlines' daughter firm, Xiamen, said that the Airbus jets should be delivered in the period between 2021 and 2023.

American Boeing's new plane orders decreased by 87 in 2019 as the company battles its 737 MAX grounding scandal, which marks the first time in decades that the company recorded negative orders on commercial aircraft. On the other hand, reports suggest Boeing's main competitor Airbus delivered more planes than expected in 2019, leaving Boeing behind to become the world's largest plane manufacturer.
