COVID-19 deaths top 2,8K as Denmark, Estonia confirm first cases

The death toll from coronavirus reached 2,807 globally on Thursday as the European outbreak raises fresh concerns. Denmark and Estonia confirmed their first COVID-19 cases today with the number of countries directly affected by the infection jumping to 16 in the continent.

Italy remained the epicenter of the outbreak in Europe as the country has 470 people tested positive for coronavirus while the death toll stands at 12 nationwide, while it spread to Greece, Switzerland, Croatia, Austria, Romania and North Macedonia earlier this week. Germany's Minister of Health Jens Spahn claimed that the country faces the start of a coronavirus epidemic.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 spread to South America as well with Brazil confirming that a man in Sao Paulo was tested positive following his arrival from Italy.
