COVID-19 vaccine ready by mid-December - CDC's Redfield

Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Dr. Robert Redfield, revealed on Tuesday that the distribution of a coronavirus vaccine would likely begin by the end of the second week of December.

"I do think we'll have about 40 million doses of vaccine before the end of the year... That's enough to vaccinate 20 million people. But then it will continue through January and February, and hopefully by March, we'll start to see vaccine available for the general public," Redfield told Fox News.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is set to discuss the Emergency Use Application (EUA) for the vaccine candidate jointly developed by Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE on December 10. The clinical trials of their formula showed the shot is 95% effective in preventing the disease.
