Daimler to recall 60,000 diesel cars in Germany

German auto industry giant Daimler AG will recall 60,000 vehicles after authorities learned that the cars were equipped with software for cheating on data related to diesel emissions, the German Transportation Ministry said. The affected vehicles belong to the model Mercedes-Benz GLK 220 manufactured between 2012 and 2015.

The ministry stressed that its investigation will include other Daimler’s vehicle models, while the company stated it would appeal the decision. Daimler noted, however, that it would cooperate with the regulators.

Meanwhile, since the emissions data cheating became known to the public four years ago, German authorities ordered Daimler to recall over three million vehicles in order to repair the emissions.
