Decker to take over as Home Depot CEO

The Home Depot Inc. announced on Thursday that President and Chief Operating Officer Edward "Ted" Decker will become the company's CEO and keep the role of president.

This move and his appointment to the Home Depot board of directors will become effective on March 1. Current Chairman and CEO Craig Menear will stay as board chair. "As a 22-year associate of The Home Depot, Ted has nurtured our culture by living our values and demonstrating servant leadership throughout his career. Ted has grown with the company by taking on expanded roles of leadership from his time in Strategic Business Development, Finance and Merchandising to leading our day-to-day interconnected operations in his role as President and COO," Menear said about Decker in a statement.

Home Depot shares declined 0.25% in late trading following the announcement.
