Delta posts Q4 revenue of $13.4B, tops estimates
Delta Air Lines posted its fourth-quarter and full-year results for 2022 on Friday, revealing that the company reached $13.4 billion in operating revenue in the December quarter, marking a 17.4% increase compared with the same period in 2019, before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Full-year results came at $50.5 billion in 2022 compared with $47 billion in 2019, a 7.4% rise year-over-year. The company's earnings per share (EPS) in the fourth quarter stood at $1.29 contrasted with $1.71 in the comparable timeframe in 2019, surpassing analysts' expectations despite the gap.
"We expect to grow 2023 revenue by 15 to 20 percent and improve unit costs year-over-year, supporting a full-year outlook for earnings of $5 to $6 per share...to achieve more than $7 of earnings per share in 2024," CEO Ed Bastian stated. He added he is looking forward to awarding employees' achievements with over $500 million in profit-sharing payments in February.
