DoJ against House obtaining Mueller materials

The Department of Justice is arguing that the House Judiciary Committee’s efforts to obtain grand jury materials from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report should be rejected because Democrats "come nowhere close to demonstrating a particularized need" for the information.

"The Committee's failure to provide a tailored request accompanied by a concrete explanation for why this material is necessary is particularly striking given the extensive investigations Congress has already conducted into Russian inference with the 2016 election, gathering information to which the Committee already has access," the DoJ wrote.

"Most prominently, the speaker of the House has been emphatic that the investigation is not a true impeachment proceeding," it added.

Recently, the House Judiciary Committee approved guidelines for its impeachment investigation into President Donald Trump.
