DoJ probing Visa's dealings with PayPal, Square - report

The United States Department of Justice is investigating Visa Inc.'s dealings with several financial-technology companies, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the report, the regulators are seeking to determine if the financial incentives Visa gave to Square Inc., Stripe Inc. and PayPal Holdings Inc. prevented them from using other card networks.

Besides its dealings with fintech firms, the DoJ antitrust investigation is also looking at whether Visa "unfairly limited merchants from routing debit-card transactions over other rails."
