DoJ: Trade secrets theft from China rising

An increase of theft of trade secrets from China is noticeable in the United States, US Department of Justice (DoJ) Deputy Assistant Attorney General Adam Hickey said on Monday.

Speaking to CNBC, the officials stated that the theft of trade secrets is a part of Chinese industrial policy. Hickey accused the Chinese government, saying the actions are either entirely "state-sponsored" or Beijing decides to "turn a blind eye" to the practices.

The assistant attorney general pointed out that the DoJ launched its China Initiative in 2018 to target alleged national security threats from China and focuses on trade secret theft, hacking, economic espionage and intellectual property theft.
