Dow drops 250 pts after job openings data
The Dow Jones Industrial Average index lost over 250 points on Wednesday after the number of job openings in the United States rose beyond market expectations to 10.1 million in April. The latest figures seemingly led traders to believe that more interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve could be on the way as the labor market tightness intensified again.
The Dow Jones dropped 0.75% or 246 points, the Nasdaq 100 decreased by 0.61% and the S&P 500 declined 0.75% at 10:23 am ET.
The euro fell by 0.69% against the dollar, going for 1.06608 at the same time, falling to a new two-month low.
