Dow jumps over 500 pts at open on stimulus optimism

Equities in the United States opened the Thursday session on a positive note, as investors still kept their focus on the $2 trillion COVID-19 stimulus bill that was approved by the US Senate on Wednesday. Meanwhile, record-high jobless figure of 3,283,000 claims last week was reported by the Department of Labor.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index traded 2.10% higher at 9:40 am ET, or almost 500 points in the green. Boeing led the gains. The Nasdaq 100 spiked 2.26% at 9:41 am ET with Broadcom as the best performer, while the S&P 500 added 1.88%.

The euro climbed 0.73% on the dollar at 9:44 am ET, going for $1.09622.
