Dow soars 500 pts on relief bill hopes, data

Major stock market indexes in the United States continued today's rally, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average surging more than 500 points after the US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin revealed that it is possible for the White House and the House Democrats to agree on the COVID-19 stimulus bill.

On the data front, the US has recorded 749,000 new jobs in the private sector in September, while August's pending home sales figure grew to a record high.

The Dow Jones jumped 1.81% or 499 points at 12:26 pm ET, while the Nasdaq 100 gained 1.57% at the same time. A minute after that, the S&P 500 advanced by 1.46%. The euro lost 0.23% versus the dollar at 12:32 pm ET, selling for $1.17138.
