EC confirms EU border reopen plan

The European Commission confirmed on Wednesday earlier reports that the Member States of the European Union reached an agreement on reopening borders for those that have been fully vaccinated.

The commission's spokesperson stated that the "ambassadors of the EU countries have reached an agreement on allowing the entry of fully vaccinated tourists into the EU" from outside the bloc, adding that at the moment the tourists would need to be vaccinated by EU approved vaccines.

The commission also introduced new COVID-19 security labels to help boost Europe's tourist season reopening saying that states will "be able to award this new safety label to tourist establishments, which implement and comply with the protocol on health and safety," adding that they hope this would "facilitate the safe reopening of tourism in time for the summer season."
