ECB's Coeure: Weaker growth expected in Q2 and Q3

The euro area's economic growth outlook is on the "downside" as it is expected to weaken in the second and third quarters this year, European Central Bank's Executive Board Member Benoit Coeure said on Wednesday.

The French economist added that, in the medium term, the underlying inflation in the Eurozone is seen as rising, as it will be supported by a rise in wages, increased economic expansion and the ECB's monetary policy.

Last week, Coeure said that inflation signals from the markets will not be ignored by the ECB, but pointed out they shouldn't be focused on "too narrowly" either.
