EMA reviews links between J&J vaccine and blood clots

The European Medicines Agency said on Friday its Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee has begun a review on potential links between Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine and blood clots.

The EMA revealed that four cases of blood clots in total have been reported to date in the United States, one case in the clinical trial and three others during the vaccine rollout, with one of them resulting in death.

Johnson & Johnson's jab has so far only been used in the US, while it has also received emergency use authorization in the European Union. However, inoculation in the EU has come under question ahead of the rollout which is planned to start in the upcoming weeks.
