EMA starts rolling review of Sinovac's COVID-19 jab
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has started the rolling review of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Sinovac Biotech Ltd., the agency stated on Tuesday.
The vaccine, dubbed Vero Cell Inactivated and backed by Life'On S.r.l. in the European Union, showed promise in the preliminary laboratory studies, EMA explained.
"These studies suggest that the vaccine triggers the production of antibodies that target SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and may help protect against the disease," the statement read. "EMA will evaluate data as they become available to decide if the benefits outweigh the risks," it added.
