EU-Belarus trade at $3B in H1 despite sanctions - PM

Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said on Saturday that the volume of trade between his country and the European Union reached $3 billion in spite of sanctions imposed on Belarus by the bloc. "Despite the embargo on a number of Belarusian export items... with some EU countries, exports even increased in the first half of the year compared to what it was in the first half of 2021. These are Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain," he told Belarus-1.

Golovchenko claimed that both private and state-owned companies continue to trade with Belarus, despite "serious pressure" from EU politicians. "Nevertheless, no one is seriously going to break off business relations with us or with their Russian colleagues," he stated.
