EU calls on UK to clarify next Brexit step

The European Commission "takes note" of the adoption of the Letwin amendment in the British Parliament on Saturday and acknowledges that Brexit deal was not put to vote, said Chief Spokeswoman for the EU's executive Mina Andreeva. She added that "it will be for the UK government to inform us about the next steps as soon as possible."

The adoption of the Letwin amendment effectively postponed the vote on the Brexit deal for next week. Although the Benn Act demands that Prime Minister Boris Johnson asks for another Brexit delay tonight before midnight CET, the Conservative Party confirmed on Twitter that "he will tell EU leaders there should be no more delays and we should get Brexit done on October 31."

Meanwhile, Commons leader Jacob Rees-Mogg said that a meaningful vote on the Brexit deal will take place on Monday. However, Speaker John Bercow has yet to decide on the matter.
