EU construction output down 1.1% in April

The production in the Eurozone construction sector declined by 1.1% in April compared to the previous month, according to a preliminary report published by Eurostat on Monday. The European Union's output dropped by 1.2% in the same period.

On an annual basis, production in construction increased by 3% both in both the euro area and the EU. Euro area's building construction increased by 3.9%, while on the other hand civil engineering decreased by 1%.

The highest annual increases in production in construction were observed in Italy (16.9%), Poland (11.6%), and Slovenia (7.7%), while on the other hand, the largest decreases were recorded in Romania (-8.1%), Spain (-3.8%), and Slovakia (-2.5%).
