EU reportedly greenlights €2B ammo aid to Kiev

European Union Foreign Ministers approved a €2 billion plan to provide Ukraine with additional ammunition to help in its fight with Russia, AFP reported on Monday citing diplomatic sources.

The scheme is said to include releasing artillery shells from members' stockpiles, as well as purchasing new ones. The total number of rounds should amount to one million, planned to be delivered to Kiev forces over the course of the next 12 months.

Last month, EU foreign chief Josep Borrell called on member states to "urgently" send existing ammunition to Ukraine.
