EU, UK, Ireland, Brazil restrictions won't be lifted - incoming Biden press secy

Jen Psaki, President-elect Joe Biden's choice for White House press secretary, revealed that the incoming Biden administration will not be lifting the travel restrictions imposed on some nations struggling with significant coronavirus outbreaks.

She noted that once the president-elect takes office his team plans to further strengthen the public health measures around international travel in order to limit the spread of the virus. "With the pandemic worsening, and more contagious variants emerging around the world, this is not the time to be lifting restrictions on international travel," said Psaki.

Her comments refer to President Donald Trump announcing he is terminating the suspension of entry from the European Union, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Brazil, confident the nations will comply with a CDC testing order. The restrictions are set to be lifted on January 26, which is after Trump's term ends and the incoming president takes office.
