EU unofficially dismisses Johnson's letter - report

Agreement on the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union, including the Irish backstop provision, is not open for the renegotiation, the Guardian reported citing Brussels sources.

According to the EU diplomats, the letter UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson sent to the European Council earlier on Monday, in which he presented an alternative customs arrangements for the Irish border, represents "a total moving of the goalposts on an issue of great importance and sensitivity."

The EU still hasn't formally responded to Johnson's letter. UK prime minister should reportedly hold bilateral meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday, before the upcoming G7 meeting scheduled for next weekend.
