Euro area construction output up by 0.2% in July MoM

Seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector in July went up by 0.2% in the Eurozone, but down by 0.1% in the European Union compared to the previous month, Eurostat's preliminary report revealed on Thursday. On an annual basis, the operations declined by 3.8% in the euro area and by 3.9% in the EU.

Building construction in the Eurozone remained stable in comparison to June's report but decreased by 0.3% in the 27 member states. Year-on-year, it sank 4.3% in the currency area and 4.2% in the EU. The largest drops in operations were reported in Germany, Poland, and Sweden, while the highest increases were registered in Slovenia, France, and Romania.

On the other hand, civil engineering rose by 1.1% in the Eurozone and by 1.2% in the bloc on a monthly basis. In comparison to July 2019, it grew by 0.4% in the euro area but dropped by 0.4% in the EU.
