Euro area GDP up 0.6% in third quarter of 2017

The seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) for both the euro area and the whole of the European Union (EU28) in the third quarter of 2017 increased 0.6% compared to the previous three months, according to an estimate released by Eurostat on Thursday. The report stated that the GDP for the second quarter of the year rose 0.7% in both areas.

Annually, the seasonally adjusted GDP for the third quarter of 2017 added 2.6% in both euro area and EU28 while both areas saw an increase of 2.4% in the second quarter year on year.

Among member states, the largest quarter on quarter growth was recorded in Romania (2.6%), Malta (1.9%), Latvia (1.5%) and Poland (1.2%) while the smallest GDO increase was observed in Denmark (-0.6%) and Lithuania (0.1%).
