Euro area inflation down to 1.4% in March

The annual inflation rate in the Eurozone stood at 1.4% in March, down from 1.5% recorded a month earlier, a report published the European Union's statistical office Eurostat on Friday showed. Meanwhile, the inflation rate in the entire European Union (EU28) was 1.6%, unchanged from February.

The lowest inflation rate was recorded in Portugal at 0.8%, while the highest rate was observed in Romania at 4.2%.

In the first month of 2019, the largest contributor to the annual euro area inflation was the energy sector, contributing 0.52 percentage points, followed by services with a positive contribution of 0.51 percentage points.
