Euro area producer prices up 1.1% in March

Industrial producer prices in the euro area increased 1.1% in March compared to the previous month, according to estimates from Eurostat published on Wednesday. In the whole European Union, producer prices rose 1.2% month on month.

Prices in the energy sector, up 1.9% on a monthly basis, contributed most to the rise. Among member states, the largest monthly increase in industrial producer prices was recorded in Ireland with prices up by 7.9%, while the only decline was observed in Estonia, where producer prices decreased 1.6% month on month.

On an annual basis, the prices in the Eurozone and the EU jumped 4.3% and 4.5%, respectively.
