Europe closes in red after Eurostat's data reports

Stocks on the European markets closed lower on Friday following the data reports on the Eurozone's economy. Eurostat reported that GDP in the euro area increased by 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2019 compared to the previous three months, while it previously stated that the Eurozone's trade surplus was up 1.1% on a yearly basis. In France, Renault said its revenue in 2019 yearly declined by 3.3% and Credit Agricole posted that its EPS stood at €0.54 in the last quarter of 2019, marking a yearly increase.

The DAX traded flat at the closing, with Wirecard AG's shares losing 3.44%. The FTSE 100 ended 0.58% lower, as Nmc Health dropped 6.46%. The CAC 40 declined 0.40% at the same time. Kering led the losses with a 2.97% decrease.

The euro was flat compared to the dollar at 5:34 pm CET, changing hands for $1.08411, while the pound traded 0.15% lower against the greenback, selling for $1.30293 concurrently.
