Europe closes mixed following ECB remarks

Major stock markets in Europe closed mixed on Thursday, following the decision by the European Central Bank (ECB) to leave interest rates unchanged. ECB President Christine Lagarde noted that the momentum of the economic recovery has moderated, citing supply bottlenecks and energy prices as the main concerns.

The DAX ended the session 0.14% in the red, with Deutsche Wohnen falling 5.41%. The FTSE 100 was down by 0.18% at the closing bell. The CAC 40 finished 0.62% higher, with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield losing 7.82%.

The euro gained 0.70% on the dollar trading for $1.16832 at 5:34 pm CET, while the pound was 0.49% higher than the American currency to change hands for $1.38117 a minute later.
