Europe lower in premarket, Brexit in focus

Major markets in Europe were in the red during premarket trading on Monday as British Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to say later today that the parliament is more likely to block Brexit altogether than allow the United Kingdom to leave the European Union without a deal. Meanwhile, as Europe prepares for Parliament elections, Italian Minister of European Affairs Paolo Savona said that the economic crisis in the EU was already underway.

The FTSE 100 declined 0.54%, while the French CAC 40 dropped 0.72% in premarket trading. Meanwhile, the German DAX fell 0.66%.

The euro gained 0.08% against the greenback, to change hands for 1.1472 at 8:14 am CET.
