Europe lower in premarket, trade in focus

Markets in Europe were in the red during the premarket trade on Friday as investors remained focused on the trade dispute between the United States and China. Earlier today, Chinese state media slammed Washington for its "petty tricks" and the lack of sincerity during trade talks. Meanwhile, the earnings season continued with EasyJet corporate results due for release later today. European elections that are set for this weekend were also in the spotlight.

The German DAX lost 0.55% at 7:54 am CET, the French CAC 40 declined 0.47% at 7:55 am CET and London's FTSE 100 fell 0.36% at the same time.

The euro traded 0.05% lower against the US dollar to sell for 1.1172 at 7:56 am CET.
