Europe mostly higher premarket with pandemic as main topic

Equities on major European stock markets were mostly higher in premarket trade on Thursday as investors seemingly focused on the latest coronavirus-related developments. The European Union continued to work on establishing a Digital Green Certificate, while the European Medicines Agency revealed that its investigation into possible links between Johnson & Johnson's vaccine and blood clots is still ongoing. The number of cases in Germany reached a three-month high.

The DAX was flat, while London's FTSE 100 gained 0.09% at 7:59 am CET. The CAC 40 was 0.20% up at 8:01 am CET.

Both the euro and the pound traded flat against the dollar to sell for 1.19747 and 1.37746, respectively, at 7:58 am CET.
