Europe opens higher on post-pandemic recovery

Major stock markets in Europe opened higher on Tuesday, as investors looked at the latest predictions on how the post-pandemic economic recovery will shape out. European Central Bank's Yannis Stournaras noted that the central bank will need to continue providing support after the pandemic, while some projections see an interest rate hike in the United Kingdom in the next two years. Meanwhile, the AUKUS deal continues to overshadow global politics.

The DAX started 0.91% in the green, with Deutsche Bank rising 1.59%. The FTSE 100 was up by 0.82% at the opening bell, as Prudential plc increased 2.57%. The CAC 40 began 0.97% higher, with Schneider Electric gaining 1.49%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar trading for $1.17260 at 9:04 am CET, while the pound increased 0.07% against the American currency changing hands for $1.36643 at the same time.
