Europe opens higher with data in focus

Major stock markets in Europe opened higher on Friday, as investors prepared to digest the latest batch of economic data reports coming out of the United Kingdom and the European Union. Retail sales in the UK were down in August, while the EU's August consumer price index and construction output are set to be unveiled later in the day.

The DAX started 0.79% in the green, with Infineon Tech rising 1.79%. The FTSE 100 was up by 0.76% at the opening bell, led by Intercontinental Hotels Group gaining 2.41%. The CAC 40 began 0.82% higher, as Stellantis increased 0.74%.

The euro gained 0.09% against the dollar trading for $1.17758 at 9:04 am CET, while the pound stood flat against the American currency changing hands for $1.37945 at the same time.
