Europe opens lower ahead of data, US Fed meeting

Major stock markets in Europe opened lower on Wednesday ahead of European Union unemployment, United Kingdom PMI data and as the world awaits United States Federal Reserve announcements later in the day. Lufthansa and BMW reported revenue growth in the 3rd quarter although the airline missed estimates.

The DAX traded flat at the opening as Zalando SE fell by 1.92%. The FTSE 100 dropped by 0.25% with Next plc tumbling 3.39%. The CAC 40 decreased by 0.08% as Veolia Environnement lost 0.83%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar at 8:58 am CET, selling for $1.15799. At the same time, the pound sterling gained 0.06% against the greenback to go for $1.36210.
