Europe opens lower ahead of Eurozone economic data

Major stock indexes in Europe opened in the red on Tuesday, as investors awaited the latest information on the euro area's retail sales. On the earnings front, Bayer reported an annual jump of 15% in its sales in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, traders across the globe are also focusing on the United States midterm elections, which will decide who will be in charge of Congress.

The DAX lost 0.20% at the opening bell, as Deutsche Post slid 2.37% at 9:03 am CET. The CAC 40 decreased 0.41% at 9:01 am CET, with Renault dipping 2.10% at the same time. The FTSE 100 fell 0.51% at the open, as Taylor Wimpey sank 3.42% at 9:02 am CET.

The euro was down 0.23% against the dollar at 8:59 am CET, selling for 0.99972. The pound tumbled 0.36% versus the greenback, going for 1.14697 simultaneously.
