Europe opens lower amid Brexit uncertainty

European markets opened lower on Wednesday as the uncertainty regarding the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union remained in focus. The UK Parliament voted in favor of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Brexit deal but rejected his timetable which aimed to speed up the legislative process and avoid another Brexit deadline extension. Meanwhile, the EU's Tusk urged member states to grant Britain the delay in order to avoid a no-deal Brexit at the end of the month.

The FTSE 100 declined 0.17% at 9:00 am CET. The worst performer was Fresnillo whose stock dropped 3.91% at 9:01 am CET.

The DAX lost 0.41% at 9:03 am CET with Infineon leading the losses as its shares slid 3.38% at 9:04 am CET.

The CAC 40 fell 0.66% at 9:00 am CET as Carrefour sank 3.75% at 9:01 am CET.

The euro was down 0.03% against the dollar to sell for 1.1122 at 9:02 am CET and the pound traded flat compared to the US currency to go for 1.28688 at 9:03 am CET.
