Europe opens mixed amid data

Major stock market indexes in Europe opened mixed on Friday amid a series of economic reports released throughout the day. Britain's gross domestic product (GDP) recorded a slight quarterly expansion in the fourth trimester of 2022. Meanwhile, Germany observed a sharp annual decline in retail sales, while France's annual inflation in March came in lower than the previous month. Later in the day, the Eurozone will unveil its latest preliminary inflation figure and the unemployment rate.

The DAX was 0.29% higher at the opening as Vonovia SE gained 1.01% at 9:07 am CET. The CAC 40 rose by 0.11%, with BNP Paribas SA going up by 1.06%. On the other hand, the FTSE 100 and the Eurostoxx 50 all stood flat.

The euro stood flat against the dollar at 8:58 am CET to sell for $1.09033. A minute later, the pound sterling gained 0.08% against the greenback, changing hands for $1.23967.
