Europe opens with gains as consumer sentiment worsens

Major European stocks opened Tuesday's session with gains despite both Germany and France reporting a further decline in consumer confidence during June.

Investors were also looking for possible decisions agreed upon during the last day of the 48th G7 summit in Germany, as well as the NATO summit that is expected to start in Madrid later today.

The DAX opened 0.59% in the green, the FTSE 100 rose by 0.92%, and the CAC 40 gained 0.98%. The euro traded flat against the dollar to sell for 1.05829 at 9:00 am CET, while the pound increased by 0.14% to $1.22838.
