Europe opens with losses, PMI data in focus

Major European stocks kicked off Wednesday's session in negative territory as investors braced for the September business activity data, which is expected to remain at or around the previous month's readings.

Earlier today, the Ifo Institute warned German inflation would likely remain elevated for some time since more companies confirmed plans to increase their prices this month.

The DAX lost 0.54% at the opening bell, while the FTSE 100 declined 0.73% and the CAC 40 fell 0.75%. Both the euro and the pound traded flat against the dollar at 8:54 am CET to sell for 0.99849 and 1.14720, respectively.
