Europe soars at close as EU hints new Russia sanctions

Earlier today, highest-ranking EU officials confirmed Brussels was considering suspending the imports of Russian gas and gold. Meanwhile, reports hinted that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson could face a no-confidence vote soon after the resignations of key ministers and parliament members in the last two days.

The DAX soared 1.56% or 193 points at the closing bell, while the FTSE 100 gained 1.17%, and the CAC 40 rose by 2.03%. The euro declined 0.92% against the dollar to sell for 1.01691 at 5:33 pm CET, while the pound lost 0.45% to $1.18963.
