Europe trades slightly lower as central banks remain in focus

European stocks traded slightly lower in early trade on Wednesday as focus remained on central bankers. The European Central Bank's (ECB) Sintra Forum will be concluded later in the day with speeches from the bank's head Mario Draghi and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker while the United States Federal Reserve will announce its interest rate decision.

Data on producer prices and consumer prices from the United Kingdom will be published during the session as the country awaits the final election of its new prime minister, with Boris Johnson becoming an even stronger favorite to enter Downing Street following the Tory elections second round results.

The DAX lost 0.11% at 9:18 am CET with Lufthansa declining 1.41% at 9:24 am CET following its profit warning which led it to a 26-month low earlier this week.

The CAC 40 traded 0.05% in the red at 9:18 am CET.

Britain's FTSE 100 was flat at 9:19 am CET.

The euro was flat against the dollar, going for 1.11929 at 09:27 am CET. The pound lost 0.08% against the greenback to change hands for 1.25472 at 9:28 am CET.
