Eurozone consumer confidence recovers in January

The euro area consumer confidence indicator recovered in January 2023, improving by 1.4 percentage points in the EU and 1.1 percentage points in the eurozone, the European Commission revealed in its final report on Monday. A negative 22.4 percentage points (EU) and negative 20.9 percentage points (EA) were reported.

Meanwhile, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) improved by 2.3 and 2.8 percentage points in the EU and Eurozone reaching 98.0 and 99.9, respectively. The Employment Expectations Indicator (EEI) also increased 2.3 points and 2.7 points in the EU and Eurozone, standing well above its long-term average.

Industry confidence increased 1.7 percentage points as well as Services confidence by 1.6 percentage points, with Financial services jumping by 4.8 percentage points.
