Eurozone consumer mood slightly lower in October

The economic sentiment among consumers and businesses in the Eurozone slightly increased in October compared to the previous month, according to a report published by the European Commission on Thursday.

The Economic Sentiment Indicator increased by 0.8 points to 118.6 in the euro area and by 1 point to 117.6 in the European Union. In the same period, the Employment Expectations Indicator gained 1.1 points to 114.5 in the euro area and 1.2 points to 114.7 in the EU to reach the highest value since May 2018.

While industry confidence remained mostly unchanged this month (+0.3 points), services confidence and retail trade confidence achieved a slight boost (+2.8 points and +0.6 points, respectively). On the other hand, consumer confidence weakened (-0.9 points) as households reviewed the general economic situation.
