Eurozone consumer prices down 0.3% in October

The euro area's annual inflation was at negative 0.3% in October, virtually unchanged compared to September's figure, European Union statistical office Eurostat's preliminary estimate showed on Friday.

Energy prices declined to negative 8.4% from negative 8.2% recorded in the month prior. Meanwhile, prices for food, alcohol and tobacco went up to 2% in October, up by 0.2 percentage points month-on-month, and non-energy industrial goods stood at negative 0.1%, marking an improvement from negative 0.3% in September.

Among countries in the Eurozone, Greece had the lowest annual inflation rate at negative 2% in October, followed by Ireland and Estonia with negative 1.8% and negative 1.7%, respectively.
